A graphic about America’s Most Expensive Restaurants (via Gadling): I’m surprised that Del Posto is on there and I wonder why they left out Masa!
After reading this, I feel like I am too accustomed to New York $$$ goggles because my jaw doesn’t drop open after seeing the prices. After all, this is the land of $16 laundry detergent (I’m not even talking about the fancy stuff!).
New York, future home, you’re going to break me, aren’t you? You’re going to take away my love, aren’t you? I’m so used to being a poor graduate student that I can’t ever imagine having the money for even the prix fixe meals. I can’t imagine having that kind of a job.
Fancier places tend to have fancier wine/drink lists. I’d be curious to see what the average price is without bottles of wine at several hundred dollars.
wow. I’ve been to 3 of these. I don’t know if that’s a good thing though. Moto in Chicago (on the list) was my most expensive. But we did have a 20 course meal that lasted over 4 hours. Its one of those molecular cooking joints. Fucking out of this world good and fascinating. My friend even knew the Sommelier, so we didn’t even spend much on wine. They even gave us some free 1969 Madeira port wine at the end and let us go down to the bunker-like kitchen to meet the chefs. There was hardly any lights on, tripped out electronic music playing, and a red, old school police-like light on the ceiling going round and round. The other 2 were in DC, great food, but just normal restaurants.
